Leading Your Business With Compassion
Albert Kim is the founder and CEO of SOTA Cloud, pioneering through compassionate innovation.
At its core, SOTA Cloud was born out of a desire to help others. Before there ever was SOTA Cloud, there was SOTA Precision Optics, the optics hardware company my father founded as an immigrant from South Korea. Brian Kim’s own entrepreneurial journey influenced me in profound ways. He didn’t use words like “compassion” explicitly, but his approach to business embodied it. He taught me the importance of stepping into the shoes of customers—truly seeing the world through their eyes.
This ethos underpins my company’s mission today. At SOTA Cloud, compassion is at the heart of all we do, and I believe it’s the foundation of any business’ success. Of course, it’s one thing to talk about understanding your audience, but truly operationalizing that—making it a daily practice—is the hard part.
What follows are my thoughts gleaned from my own entrepreneurial journey on how compassion in the workplace isn’t a nice-to-have—rather, it’s an essential differentiator in the AI age. It’s my hope that this information sets your corporate culture up for long-term success.
Starting with Leadership
So, how can you bring the philosophy of “innovation fueled by compassion” to life? It all starts with leadership. Compassionate leadership shouldn’t be just a buzzword. It’s a framework that should permeate your team.
